Well...that truck sounds like any number of vehicles I have driven the past 40 years or so...one of the most memorable was the old International Scout we owned in our pre-kid days.

It was so old and so full of holes, that you needed a respirator if you wanted to take the gravels, and if you braved that, once you got where you were going and got out to look at your reflection in the cracked rearview mirror, it looked like you had about an inch of pancake makeup on your face!

It was not only the rusty, mostly non-existent floor that made driving the old Grey Ghost an adventure... it was a three-speed manual transmission with no synchro. To get it in first gear, you had to be completely stopped first...no artful down shifting there.

We eventually sold the old Scout. The guy that took it off our hands went to open the drivers aside door one day and the hinges completely disintegrated. I wish I could have seen the look on his face.

Maybe it's better that I hadn't.
