Then I switch gears to discuss eggs and chickens and then why I’m not a farmer which leads me to a passage from Visiting Tom about harvesting oats with a scythe while my toddler daughter eats windfall apples. The piece concludes with Tom (figuratively) yanking me back down to earth when I wax a tad too poetic.
