For a solid summer when the song Convoy hit the radio, my friends and I were all going to be truckers someday. Got our dime store walkie talkies and tried to parrot the voices we heard on the song, as well as the real CB radio in one of the guy's houses, as his Dad was a long haul trucker and his Mom left it on all the time in the kitchen. That same friend would go on to be a trucker himself. Nearly all the music you mentioned was on my a.m. radio every night as I went to sleep. A bygone era for sure, but those songs will live forever.
Great episode. One correction. Dale Sommers aka The Truckin' Bozo was based right here in Cincinnati, OH on WLW. Listened to him often at home and on the road.
My subscription comes due this week- every year I don't even have to think about it- I get more value out of this Voice Mail than almost anything I ever invest in. Thank, Mike. Well, I suppose- Forward. See (hear) you on the other side- next Sunday, that is.

Thank you...interesting that all these years later and many editors later the Truckin' Bozo thing slipped through. WLW was one of my favorites.
Happy to renew. We very much enjoy listening to you! Have read all your books.
Thank you for giving your time. I'll keep at it.

This is very kind. Thank you.
I'm sitting here feeling a bit misty and damned proud about those Road King years!! - Hudge
It was a good run, and I remain deeply grateful for it.
