I must share with you an Insta post by my friend Jocelyn. She and her extra-super-hardy compatriots live in Duluth MN, and all love to immerse themselves in the 34˚ water. Daily. https://www.instagram.com/p/C2loJ__MIAI/?img_index=1
Wonderful. Thank you for the memories, and the photos. I grew up in Polk County the same years that you did, so I know exactly what you're sharing. And thank you very much for the transcription - it's so much easier for me to read than to listen!
Amen! I live in the UP and I have been grateful for the weather till yesterday....no, that's not true; I am grateful for the snow too because it really is just so beautiful. My short trek outside to the mailbox is often done with the least extra coverage possible exactly for the reason you suggested in today's message.
Confession, I am heading for AZ for the next two months so maybe I am not really that grateful for the snow after all. :)
Spot on. I remember having the option of slipping on my then-always-not-tied high top sneakers, as was the fashion, but intstead choosing to run the six garbage cans down the six-car long driveway to the curb barefoot. Usually took 3 sprints each way but if they were heavy it was six. No breaks allowed. All six, one way or another. My Mom and siblings thought I was nuts. I thought it was funny. Today I sometimes will reload the bird feeder that way, but usually with non-fuzzy slippers.

I'm glad the transcription is working. I've heard it makes a few errors now and then, but then so do I. :)
Mid-Winter, Midnight dashes to the outhouse. Ahh, good times!
Two-holer at our place. Never made a friend that special.
Same here!
Love all of this Mike! Your words, your delivery, the images they evoke, the memories… The photos, and especially your notes on that almanac section!!
Cat O'Connor
Thank you. And thanks for noting the notes. Never sure how that's gonna go over but it's fun to add something off-the-cuff reflective, unpolished.
Oh yes! Please keep 'em coming!
Keep warm Michael!

I myself have snuck off to AZ on occasion and do not regret it...

It's INVIGORATING.
Yeah, having a cigar is a bit of a workout on days like today!
Through the ski mask.
